1. Could you tell me about yourself? (Your
name, home country)
This is Kamala, from New Delhi, India. I
have completed my 12th with IGCSE.
2. What are you planning to do after school?
I am interested in mechanics, so I am
planning to join for a summer camp where I can get trained for the practical
mechanics.
3. Why did you choose to study at St.cloud University?
I loved the place, and the culture of
encouraging students with all the activities along with the studies. This makes
the development of communication skills and social awareness etc. This is one
of the largest undergraduate and master university has got great history for
it. I love the campus and the way the university is organized in a systematic
way, clealry mentioned, everything is reachable directly to student with great
assistance.
4. What is the difference in educational systems between your country and North America?
I am brought up in Shimla and studied in an
international convent school, where we had students from different countries,
and it is a great environment to get to expose to different cultures with
international standard educational system, and I experienced the same with the
educational system of North America
5. Would you like to tell me about your country?
Yes I do.
I am really proud to be a citizen of India. I love my traditions, unity
of all people, and we have got great scientists, and leaders who are being
praised by entire world and lots more inexpressible.
6. Could you tell me about your country's traditional process regarding marriage?
Marriage! So excited. We do have a great
lovely process for it. It has got three day ceremony, Sangeeth, Gouri pooja by
bride and groom, Marriage, Vratam.
During Sangeeth, the bride and groom participate individually and get
ready for marriage followed by Gouri pooja by both, and the main ceremony
Marriage, Groom ties knot to bride, and the newly married couples are forwarded
for Vratam together to get the blessings of Satyanarayana swamy (welfare God).
7. Can you tell me about activities that young people like to do in your country?
There are people who start working at an
younger age, and there are people who study till they are mature and strong
enough to work.
8. What are major holidays in your country?
Dassera, Diwali, Sankranti, Christmas,
E-id, Republic day, Independence day , summer holidays etc, hope India has got
,more holidays than compared to any other country in the world.
9. What is your traditional food?
Roti with chawal, Kesar halwa, aloo parata
.
10. How is the political system of your country structured?
India political system is democratic
system, as I stay as hostler in Shimla, and come home to New delhi in holidays
which is a capital city never faced the issues personally, but from the news it
is clear the political system is being corrupted a lot in recent days. I am
really sorry to say this but it’s the truth, and because of this many people
are even being suffered directly and indirectly.
11. What are your country's major religions?
Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh
12. What’s considered offensive in your country?
Many are considered but not implemented in
strict. From theft, murder, harassment, child labor and the list goes on, but
all these offenses as being increase from day to day because of inactiveness and
irresponsibility of public servants and politicians.
13. What do you perceive as differences between your culture and the American culture?
For me there won’t be anything new to
differentiate because I am used to international life style because of my
classmates and friends from different countries.
14. Is there anything you would like to add
before we end our interview?
